I originally wanted to make my own wooden vise inserts for my garage workbench, but I didn't like the component approach to vise parts I found in Woodcraft, so I decided to go with a simple (and lazy) street. I bought a quality vise from them and HOPED these liners would protect my projects and most importantly stay in place! do exactly what they were designed to do. The maple liners didn't damage anything I pinched and they never slipped off. The magnets appear to be of high quality and do not show any detachment from the wooden part of the liner. One thing I hadn't thought of and really liked is that I can detach it from the main vise and temporarily use it on another steel vise. I used another steel vise in a higher position and although these liners were larger than the smaller vise they worked perfectly! When using your end vise, using it in conjunction with a good quality steel vise is a sensible and quality alternative.
