Bad quality is everything

I bought one of the hats for my son, he loves it but after a month I wash it like normal clothes.
Suddenly I start making noises that my son's head smells really bad as well as the hat, I thought it was normal because I didn't wash it well so I washed it more often at first but it's always still the same . I think it's just bad quality but the design is good and all.
