Review on πŸ“· Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN, C for Micro 4/3: Outstanding Performance and Versatile for Micro Four Thirds Cameras by Mega ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing I've ever used, I recommend it to everyone!

A moderate 2.24x zoom telephoto lens with aperture ratio of 1.4 is great! It is clear that you can shoot portraits with a blurred background, but most importantly, you can shoot street photos in any conditions without affecting the subject, without invading his personal space. With a minimum focusing distance of 50 cm and a focal length of 112 equimm, this lens can be used as a macro lens. It gives a comparable image scale in comparison with the native Olympus macro 30mm f / 3.5. Well, with extension macro rings that support the transmission of electrical signals between the lens and the camera, you get just a super macro system. Once refused to "run". Did not open the aperture when turning on the camera. It did not show signs of life despite the fact that the other lens worked fine (that is, it was clearly not the camera and its glitches). However, then it still "wound up" at the next turn on and so far there have been no more such episodes. The sediment, however, as they say, remained. We will watch and watch.

Pros
  • + Value for money. + Aperture 1.4. + Focal length at micro 4/3 - 112mm in 35mm equivalent. + Image quality. Smooth smooth blurring of the image in the blur zone. + More than sufficient sharpness already from the widest aperture. + Quiet aperture and autofocus. + Almost perfect metering performance on the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk II, unlike some Lumix lenses. + Workmanship, materials. + Compactness. + Official warranty 2 years.
Cons
  • - There is no case in the package, although one is applied to obviously cheaper Art lenses 19mm, 30mm and 60mm. That is, this is a conscious artificial marketing dilution of the Contemporary and Art lines. - On Olipus, automatic merging of series shot with focus bracketing does not work.

With its pros. Focal length + aperture and autofocus. Good portrait for active kids. Perfectly smears the background. Beautiful bokeh. Got cons: Lots of plastic. metal parts would decorate the lens.

With its pros. Very high resolution. In my opinion, the best focal length for portraits on the mic. 45 is not enough, except in a cramped apartment, 75 is a lot. Some cons: Price. Always want as a gift

Good for macro photography with an extension ring. Also good as a telephoto lens.
