One of the most versatile XLR DACs on the market with volume control.

I had pretty strict requirements. I had just bought some Yamaha DBR speakers and Behringer Eruo Live 12" subwoofers and needed a control center with great processing, XLR outputs and a volume control. This unit certainly ticks all the boxes. The use case is an open air cinema with a Rear projection system. I was used to a certain level of sound and options, and buying another receiver seemed pretty stupid for what I needed. An added bonus is the ability to slightly tint the sound with a variety of filters and modes Anyway, we recently had a pretty decently long session listening to some music videos and it all started falling down together and I couldn't be happier with the result.I'll be adding an HTPC very soon to deal with that we can play TIDAL and get the most out of this setup the movies and music was great just make sure that the channel is a stereo mix. The Yamaha sound seems to pair well with this treatment and I'm very glad I risked this very valuable product which can cost almost double or more from another manufacturer. The remote control, which was a big feature for us, is quite high quality and reminds me a bit of the Fire TV remote. That puts us in the $1,700 range for our entire current audio system, and it really shines in a given room or even outdoors, which is badly needed for the versatility we demand. The size was also a big plus as it fit in a projector bag with cables etc and was very portable when needed. The only downside is that the main use case for this excellent device is desktop and the display is frustratingly small. Since I'm adapting it to something outside of its original scope, I can certainly forgive him for that, but I think it's worth mentioning. Bottom line, the DAC has an amazing level of features and ended up fitting perfectly into our setup, which I felt was proportional to the cost of all the other devices. Also, being able to hook up an optical device to all the XLRs and be done is just great.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Annoying
