It looks over-sized for a wooden post.
Does this work for a wooden post? Yes, but it looks a little big and though it does fit in the top, it also looks like it was made to fit on a plastic top too. So it doesn't really look quite right on a wooden post. However it is cheap and if you want cheap, its the way to go.
