Review on 🌡️ Coolant Thermostat Housing Assembly Sensors: Complete Solution for Optimal Engine Temperature Regulation by Wesley Sharp

Better quality than OEM design and save you tons of money!

Factory thermostat housing on 2012-2016 Ecotec 1.8L engines is plastic. Newer models have a redesigned version that's half plastic, half aluminum. Over time, both will crack due to excessive heat and pressure in the cooling system. OEM specs call for a 20psi radiator cap and a thermostat that does not begin to open until the coolant temperature reaches 221°F. An all-aluminum part is required to handle such loads. I am very satisfied with this product. It wasn't that difficult to install and saved me hundreds of what the dealer wanted to replace. It's been a little over a month since I installed it and I've had no problems. A few points to note during installation that may be helpful: The throttle body heater hose has a quick connector that is located on top of the thermostat housing. You just pull on it and when I did mine broke. Since the time was up, I went to the dealer for a replacement. The guy at the parts counter said it was normal. Also, removing the air box makes access to the throttle body connector easier. The OEM spring clips were not tight enough to properly secure the hoses in the new housing. I replaced them with marine grade set screws.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Poorly designed
