I would really like to award 4.5 stars here. I only give 5 stars for things that are truly immaculate, but this is really very good quality with very few imperfections. It will only be installed for a day, but the first thing to notice is the excellent quality of the lock itself. Much softer than the cheaper one that was installed with the house. Also, the physical button swap was fairly easy and very welcome. I wasn't sure if it would work as the original lock wasn't Kwikset but it worked. And since I only swapped one door, I didn't want to swap the other lock as it's used much less often. Again, it is very reliable and runs smoothly. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that the setup was a bit more confusing than I expected and the app has some minor quirks, but overall it's still worth the money. The installation was only confusing because the pictures and the orientation of some parts weren't entirely obvious and if you misread the words or didn't fully understand the details you could be wasting your time as I'm installing the inside of the lock onto the upside down. or there are other problems with their alignment. There are also many screws. I got mixed up between two identical sets of smaller screws and one of the packs didn't have a number printed on it. Although the instructions say to use one set (labeled) I was confused because the correct set of screws was attached among the other items in the box. Again, not deadly at all and not scary. However, the screws I tried to fit were wrong and installing the correct screws was fine. After that, the app setup wasn't perfect, but not bad. The only three issues I had was the firmware update failing when my phone was too close to the lock. In the end I decided to put the phone further away and it worked. Then the account creation on the phone was quite cumbersome due to the layout and I had to manually save the password in my password manager as the app wasn't recognized as a website. The only other issue was a weird quirk where after setting up the lock (which was very easy once I set up an account and updated the firmware) the app would inexplicably return to a screen asking for a verification code, which I had already entered and it was not possible to refuse it or say "continue" even if the code was already there. The solution was to force close the app and voila, the app was back to normal. BEST FEATURES: Automatic lock (with different times), smooth sliding on the lock, the ability to turn off sounds and lights, easy management of codes and schedules, NO WI-FI. I have a smart home but I refuse to add anything important like a door lock. It's really nice to be able to manage numerous codes without having to remember cryptic key combinations. I recommend this castle to everyone.
