This shoe takes a few runs to get used to. The first thing I noticed was the heavy padding. The problem wasn't the cushioning, it was the fact that excess cushioning makes it unstable at footfall. After a few runs, however, this seemed to go away. I believe it goes away because the cushioning adjusts. Now they feel more stable and less soft, which is good. Heel slips but wearing these shoes with tighter lacing fixed that for me. I come from Pegasus. I've been wearing the Pegasus for probably 15 years because I've never found a neutral running shoe that's as good as this one. 1080v9 comes close, but not quite. 1080v9s are only really good for light runs and POSSIBLY longer tempo runs. With Pegasus I can run at a faster pace and even repeat miles. I doubt 1080v9 is suitable for those shorter and faster workouts. You'll want to find lighter, more stable shoes for shorter, faster workouts.
