Solid piece of material. The central thread engages precisely in the M3 screw. Grooves along the guides allowed the M3 nuts to slide freely and not rotate when threaded. The dimensions of the guides averaged between 14.90 mm and 14.95 mm. I have a rail that gave me a range of 14.85mm to 15.05mm.
