When my lamp first arrived it broke in half and fell off its base a few seconds later. I contacted support and Jenny was incredibly helpful! She sent me another one almost immediately for free. But unfortunately he didn't keep it on the stand for more than 20 minutes! I contacted Jenny again and the third lamp she sent (again free) worked great! If your lamp won't stay on its base for days, contact the company and get one that works! It's a nice piece and pretty easy to put on the stand after a few tries. The moon will try to stick to the base, but you'll have to force it in the middle until you feel a "click" of sorts and it rises.
