The required driver is no longer available in MS

. I received this card today and was delighted to install it on my HP Pavilion Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit desktop PC. After a very bad experience with another vendor's card, I expected great results as this card comes with a driver CD. Installation went smoothly, no problems; until the driver is installed. The last page of the manual states that "KB2581464" is required, which is only available from Microsoft due to their crazy licensing scheme. Well folks, since Redmond stopped supporting Windows 7, they've removed this download and it's no longer available. The drivers that come with it will make the card work, but you won't get full USB3.0 speeds without an MS download. I am furious with all of this after experiencing a recent fiasco and resulting return of goods from another supplier. At least this card actually works, albeit not in the way I expected. I can't in good conscience return this card because it works, and I can't blame the manufacturer for a Microsoft corporation's antics; so I will limp without the expected speed. If you're using Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, you'll probably be fine. If, like me, you're sticking with Windows 7, you're probably out of luck. Unless your system installed that knowledge base when it was available. I don't know if other cards require it, but I'm not messing around with it. No more exams for me. I'll stick with what I have. Edit 21-8-2021 I received a notification last night that a software update is available. Since I'm still using Windows 7, I found it strange. Well I installed the update and it was for the Fresco Logic drivers for this card. After the update was complete I ran a USB speed test using USBView (downloadable from Microsoft's website) and now I have USB 3 speeds from this card. I have upgraded my rating to five stars to reflect this change.
