After receiving this product I accidentally saw a youtube video showing a gentleman trying to fix one of these. While attempting to repair it, he discovered that the drive in the case was manufactured about 10 years after the date of purchase. Curious, I opened the box and found that mine was also made over 10 years ago. The seller (or someone else) obviously gets old internal drives (probably from damaged or obsolete laptops and computers) and packs them into external drive cases. The drive seemed to work fine, but I didn't like that I was buying a used product that was supposed to be new. I returned it for a refund. What is being done illegally? I do not know. But I would say it's definitely unethical. These units must be sold as refurbished. If you bought one of these, just remove the cover from the case and look at the label on the drive inside.
