The best? The best.

After much research and weighing the pros and cons, I finally settled on a 15" Blade Base (with Ethernet) with a GTX 1660Ti. I needed something that was redundant as a desktop computer Replacement in the field Purpose: I work as a sound engineer in a film production and sometimes we have musical elements that require a serious workstation, about 20% of the time, but primarily it's about working with sound/audio in a professional environment Pros: - Technical characteristics I like a laptop that can overwhelm most desktops - Great screen Stunning colors, great contrast and of course 144Hz is a must for gaming I can't use 60Hz anymore, even for everyday ones Office chores now I see flicker and it makes me tired The build quality is excellent Looks fantastic looks exceptionally good definitely puts the MacPro aesthetic and "quality" to shame. Plus, durability is expected to be top-notch. When I buy new hardware, if it's in store as a demo, I do drop tests, sticking it in the counter, slamming it, flexing the screen, mishandling it, banging the keyboard, banging the trackpad, etc. All of that was this the best. No case creak when you lift it around corners, no flex when you push the body, none of that bullshit - the performance is incredible. I've never seen it stutter or stutter even when recording 5-6 tracks in ProTools with dozens of plugins running, intensely I've loaded some massive sessions (80+ tracks) with plugins on each slot and haven't even got it yet tries. I'll even quickly edit sessions instead of running a desktop install. I'm not a player in Call of Dooty MW, but every other modern and less modern game I've thrown has been a breeze. - ports. it has the perfect combination. I have the base model (with ethernet) and together with the USB-C port there's really no reason it can't match a desktop setup in terms of connectivity. I connected my Satechi USB-C and everything worked at the same time. Aesthetics. I have to repeat it again, it looks phenomenal. Cons: (This is VERY pessimistic, like I'm in a terrible mood and someone made me say negative things) - despite the incredible screen, there are *some* highlights in the corners (3 out of 4, to be exact be). I realize this is a major downside for some people, but I don't play visually dark games. Even looking at the dark scene in the film, I can't tell. It's only at boot when the screen is 99.99% black. Sometimes when I'm using Photoshop I notice that, but again it's very, very little in the overall perspective of having other colors/things on the screen. - The keyboard takes some getting used to. It felt natural after 2 days, but it's not the easiest learning curve. I have a mechanical keyboard with Cherry Browns on my desktop so the contrast couldn't be more extreme, but now I can easily switch between the two. Also, according to other people's comments, the arrows are definitely out of place; they must be moved one button/column to the right or swapped with the Shift key. - The battery life is pretty bad. But it's a slot/desktop replacement. With the screen brightness turned on and intense gaming, I hardly last more than 2 hours. With everyday use in the office with moderate screen brightness, I can last maybe 4-5 hours. However, it recharges quickly. they definitely are. that would be a legitimate negative trait. If you're in a quiet room, writing emails and watching YouTube, you'll barely hear them. But when you play they get pretty loud. For performance, it's a small nuance - the logo on the lid is the only other real "minus" for me. I don't get it to shine in a professional environment, although I personally like it. I covered it with SopiGuard's black matte finish. Still looks great. Again, I just want to reiterate that these downsides are subtle at best. I wanted to detail the bad qualities, however minor they may be. Bottom line: if you can afford it, do it. Get a 4 year warranty from Revain (Asurion) so you have nothing to lose. Now I'm much less likely to turn on a desktop setup when it's so easy to reach the blade and get the job done. I'm by no means a brainless Razer fanatic, but I have to admit it's the best option right now and I'm becoming a fan.
