Unpacked defective, never turned on the light.

While looking for a 70 watt lamp that would be compatible with the HAF-38 spot light I came across this product and ordered it as the light required a high pressure sodium lamp. Installation in the fixture was easy, but the bulb never came on, instead getting very hot. After cooling and removing from the holder, the bulb's glass turned very black, but the wires and everything else looks fine.
