Good Basic Camera / Install on F-150 2004-2008

Yes night vision works, just try changing the position of the license plate light so it isn't directly into the lens shine. I'd say the only issue I had was when the fog is outside of the lens fog, but all you really need to do is wipe the lens off before jumping in your truck. And to mount the 2004-2008 F-150 you must either insert the license plate screw into the camera mount or use separate camera mount screws, making sure the camera is behind the plate of course. Next you should take the black wire and ground it, which means you can ground it on a truck chassis by loosening the bolt and wrapping it around the bare wire and then retightening it. Now you need to route the red wire from the bottom up, although the left taillight housing is very important that it goes to the left taillight and not the right taillight. Now you need to remove the headlight assembly as you will need this red wire to get to the correct wire. Now that you've removed the tail light and disconnected the connections, look for a specific BLACK wire with a pink line located at the trunk/bulb connector. What I did was take a knife and carefully peel off the plastic around the wire just a small area so you can unwrap the red wire from the camera terminals. Place some tape or solder as you like, then you should find a way to route the RCA cable (a yellow plug) and plug it into the back of your stereo, depending on what your stereo says. The same wire you routed around your cockpit should have another small wire that is the same as the one you wrapped around the taillight wire. This cable goes to the dedicated cable on your stereo that is dedicated to the rear view camera. It should tell you which one is in your stereo manual. You connect these two wires either by twisting them together or soldering them and you should be fine and you're done. Make sure the camera is showing on your stereo before putting everything back on the dash by simply turning on the ignition and turning your truck backwards, it should automatically switch to the camera. Hope that helps
