To me, this is the gold standard for block trimmers, especially HST. That's because (a) it's incredibly easy to use and (b) it's 100% accurate. If you're thinking of orienting the lock correctly (the Bloc Loc logo is on the lighter side or on the side where you pressed your OT seam allowance), it's almost impossible to go wrong. And as long as you press down firmly when cutting (just like you would with any other ruler or template), the result will be accurate. Some of my friends prefer Clearly Perfect trimmers, which allow you to cut the HST before opening it. The problem is that you don't know its dimensions until you open your HST. If your stitching isn't perfectly straight (mine often isn't perfect), your stitch will wobble and this will alter the outside dimensions of your block. So if you cut before you press, chances are you'll cut the block too small. For the sake of accuracy, I think it's better to take an extra step and open the HST before cropping. And in this case Bloc Loc is the perfect tool.
