The drive is a 5400 RPM instead of 7200 RPM hard disk with 32 GB or 64 GB flash, part of the SSD. The flash memory is reset on every boot or reset. It's excruciatingly slow to archive information for future use the first time. And when you look at the SSD memory buffer, the search for the oldest sectors is reset. Because of the slow drive, sin isn't faster than a good 7200rpm hard drive, it's slower. But the speed is slower. Hard drive crashed with no recoverable corrupted data and failed when trying to repartition and reformat it. The drive is shipped in OEM condition and does not meet Seagate's packaging requirements for replacement or repair. The drive worked fine for a little over 1 month, but then the problems started and over time the problems got more severe, eventually leading to complete drive failure and data corruption and inability to recover usable data. I will never buy a Seagate product again. The 5 year warranty is a scam in the fine print that legitimizes BS not to honor the stated warranty! The trip didn't even take a full 4 months! Update: Revain replaced the drive with a consumer packaged drive so the warranty was still valid. Since then I have needed 4 discs. Problems: bad sectors on the disks, bad flash memory and controller chips on the hard disk. This drive has no performance boost and is unreliable and unstable. 1 hard drive replacement was DOA. All replacements were new discs. I refuse to take the recovered disk. Seagate informed me that this is the last new drive they will ship and that all subsequent warranty replacements will be refurbished drives. I have 1TB and 2TB versions of this drive and they both fail the same way. I can't trust this drive, so I'm using it as a temporary drive to transfer backups from disk to disk. And my current drives show bad sectors again and start corrupting data and losing seek data. And flash memory chips show signs of failure as read and write performance degrades. This disc is a major disappointment from a supposedly reputable disc manufacturer.
