Mechanical speed is also important when buying a hybrid drive

Advantage: Mostly faster charging. Disadvantage: I didn't pay attention to the driving speed. My old drivetrain was 100% mechanical but at 7200rpm. The new drive is SSHD, but slightly slower at 5400 rpm. This matters in terms of post-boot actions, especially disk-intensive actions like system updates. My fault for not doing more thorough research. But be aware that you will definitely see improvements if your old hard drive ran at 5400 RPM. However, if your old drive is 7200 RPM, look for…

Great drive for the money

There are great upgrade drives when you need to replace an existing drive. The speed gain is negligible at best, so don't expect SSD-like performance. You'll notice some increase in download speed, but that's about it. While they're designed to "self-manage" "most used" files and move them to a small internal SSD partition, you'll find that nothing you use seems much faster than when you power up your computer boot. So far it's holding up and working just as well as any regular mechanical…

Not a new model as advertised, works fine

Edit: Installed in my son's Xbox One as an internal drive. Worked well and it doubled its memory. I'm not sure if a hybrid drive would work better. I probably should have just bought an SSD. Maybe if the price for 1TB drops a bit. In general there is nothing wrong with this disc. The model number difference may just be the retail packaging vs the original packaging with no real difference in the disc itself. The disc was sealed but the models don't match as another reviewer said. The box is…

So slow. Get an SSD. Worth the extra money.

We recently bought this for my brother's computer. He had a regular old hard drive that was showing its age. He decided to save money by purchasing a hybrid SSH/HDD drive. Performance is just as bad as before, if not worse. We are not sure if this particular hard drive is defective or if there is a design flaw. With defragmented NTFS partitions, the hard disk could only read in the kiB/s range. Simply opening File Explorer leaves the computer in an unusable state as it takes a few minutes to…

games? nope! woman nice!

I bought this to speed up my wife's laptop boot time both on START and when browsing the web. It wasn't easy to see if it could be used as another boost for them. Toshiba Satellite without having to "replace" the DVD box, but it can and does. I noticed that Windows 10 uses a different system for weighting SATA drives than the old BIOS system and the original drive is named C-Drive (sata0) and Toshiba inserts the DVD into the sata4(?) slot. The Satellite P875-s7102 has an additional slot. This…

Decent value assuming they hold up

I use them as a drive only in a docking station to incrementally back up two of my laptops (one running Windows and the other running macOS). As with any hard drive, durability, speed and accuracy are the hallmarks of quality. So far they have been working exactly as expected for a week. If they fail prematurely I will definitely update my review. I found the price reasonable for a 2.5 inch 1TB 7200rpm hard drive. I'm having a hard time buying into the "SSHD" brand - it's nowhere near as fast…

Updated the review, drive and Seagate - garbage!

The drive is a 5400 RPM instead of 7200 RPM hard disk with 32 GB or 64 GB flash, part of the SSD. The flash memory is reset on every boot or reset. It's excruciatingly slow to archive information for future use the first time. And when you look at the SSD memory buffer, the search for the oldest sectors is reset. Because of the slow drive, sin isn't faster than a good 7200rpm hard drive, it's slower. But the speed is slower. Hard drive crashed with no recoverable corrupted data and failed when…

The best combination of SSD and hard drive storage

I don't really like cutting-edge technology, but I'll dig a little deeper into the types and purposes of hard drive storage, FireCuda is the answer to the question that you will ask too late. When I bought a Windows laptop I had functional plans for upgrades and backups, an extra drive was given but I didn't want to spend the money on a comparable 1TB solid state drive (SSD) storage but I liked the SSD . in my mac mini. I heard about these drives many years ago when they were in their infancy…

  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
