According to the list, they fit all model years Porsche 914 with VW Type 4 engine The starter in this list only fits Volkswagen Type 1 engines It is screwed onto the Type 4/Porsche engine and even spins the flywheel for a short time but soon you will hear grinding noises when the starter teeth do not engage the flywheel properly. You will also purchase a new flywheel along with a new starter motor. ASK ME HOW I KNOW! I have attached a picture of the correct starter motor for a VW/Porsche 914-4 Type 4.
