I use animal leashes and they work great for this, the surface is smooth, the spring seems good and the swivel looks like big dogs, goats etc need hard work (most likely never) cause a crash. For marine use I would use things like a rescue gate, a quick temporary skiff rope, or many other things you can use. I would caution against using a true snap shackle for only critical applications such as anchor gear or a spinnaker sheet lock as these are normal snaps. I think I'll get more and if you need a snap you should too.! Places to look for future wear and quality control outside of the package are the function of the spring and the welding and fitting of the yoke around the stud/post. Amazing deal so far, they seem to be very well built.
