This is a premium product. It's cheaper on Blick.com. The surface is smooth. The paper is thick. The binding is strong and good. Lies flat. Stitched binding. Great review of this and a million other artbooks at parkablogs.com. I have reviewed many books and love the durability and quality of this mixed media book. This might not be good for wet environments unless you like the hot press surface. Ideal for pen and ink. Addendum 09/15/19: Alcohol markers MAY leak. It doesn't appear to be superfine markers, but chisel tip markers do. Even when washed wet, there appear to be small sticky spots that produce small freckles. Sometimes they affect the artwork, sometimes they don't. But although the paper is very thick and heavy, I have noticed it several times when washing it wet or in prolonged moisture when it is not allowed to dry completely.
