I have used it on my long haired cat. Cleans and rinses well, does not dry out the hair. I followed the directions which said not to dilute the shampoo and left it on his white legs and feet for a minute (using a timer). After rinsing off the shampoo, I dried him with a hair dryer and noticed that his feet and legs had turned a lavender hue. Another bath in liquid dish soap helped remove the lavender tint and then it turned very white. The bottom line is that if you're using it on a medium/long haired cat or dog, you should probably dilute it by adding some of this shampoo to your current non-purple shampoo.
