Superb Solid Color Matelasse Diamond Pattern Bedspread

I bought two of these in gray for a pair of twin beds in our guest room. . The edges of the pillow aren't "hard" but they aren't "flexible" either in my opinion. Look and Feel: Bedspreads have a soft, smooth surface and are very attractive. I don't understand why some reviews say it feels like "polyester". The fabric doesn't itch and after sleeping under it for a night I can say that it is very breathable. In fact, this is one of the reasons I bought a cotton bedspread and not blankets; they are more comfortable. It's just beautiful and not too heavy. I would compare it to the weight of a blanket. I've had other matelasse bedspreads that weren't as soft. This one is very nicely "quilted" or "soft" as the French definition of "matelasse" says. The fabric has a diamond weave which is actually (in my opinion) softer than many quilted fabrics which require more maintenance. Quilting seams can be brittle and often unravel in the wash, which makes machine washing and drying cotton mats the best option for me, and I expect cotton to feel softer with each wash.Thickness and Weight: It's thick enough not to have any small creases to have in the paper what is important to me. It's not as forgiving as a blanket when making the bed, but it's still easy to use. I don't have time to make sure you bounce a quarter or make hospital corners razor sharp, but I want a clean, tidy bed that doesn't take hours to make and it works. PERFECTLY SIZED: The comforters fully cover our orthopedic mattresses with foam padding. Immediately there is very little odor in the pack so you probably won't need to wash it at all. You can just hang them outside for a day to freshen them up before putting them on the bed, but I tick and wash them. Shrinkage: I washed it in cold water and dried it on the down setting and the shrinkage was less than 1 inch. on the side. Shrinkage is what you would expect from any 100% cotton garment. Please note that this bedspread is long enough to cover the bed's pillows. Some reviews say it's "huge", but I think the reviewers may have been trying to get the bedspread to function like a blanket which would result in it hitting the floor on both sides and the foot end of the bed bed pulls. Style: I would describe the style as "classic". I paired the bedspreads with 100% cotton duvets that were very similar the same color and added a white hotel pillowcase with gray satin stitching (which I already had on hand) and I love how they all look together. Even if the comforters (see my photos and review of the comforters I paired with the bedspreads) don't match the softness of the bedspreads. Conclusion: I would definitely recommend this set to a friend.
