. "stone " and not someone trying to find a better version of this type

My review is probably more for those wondering if they like this type of "stone " use, not for those who try Find the best version of this type. I say that because I have never used this stone, only this one. I used to sharpen real stones, diamond plates, grinders and sandpaper of various grits. I bought one of these after coming across a set of Ashley Iles chisels/chisels that didn't maintain a straight edge line. I wanted to keep the tools and spent hours getting the sharpness I needed - they came to me used and needed a new blade so some work was inevitable. But for some reason, whether I tried the slowest, gentlest, or fastest method, I was able to get a close hair shave, but working with wood (maple) quickly nicked the blade. I almost threw her. Instead, I bought this combo stone. I read reviews of the different soaking methods and decided to soak the main side for 15 minutes and mist the fine side with a fine mist just before use once and then as needed. In less than 10 minutes I redid a previously jagged notch and was able to selectively shave my hair. I was very happy but still worried. Then I took it to work, a bass (fiddle) snail, and found the edge was up and cutting through the maple like butter. I have worked with this stone with 4 of the tools in this set and have spent hours on some without even having to touch them up. The edges are all the same whole and mirrored, as always.
