We placed them on the floor of our patio and we could see exactly how they behaved in a downpour. They stopped the flow of rainwater to the door for about 10 minutes as the vermiculite inside them expanded. But as they expanded, they became permeable! The water just flowed through them, slowly and steadily! I thought they would become impenetrable as they absorb water and expand. Not so.
