I'm not really sure about the water resistance since my uses so far haven't really tested that aspect. But, having these around makes small wire repair quicker, somewhat easier, much more compact, and probably a just as water resistant than other methods such as wire nuts and Plasti Dip and probably a lot more water resistant than a "Western Union pigtail" and electrical tape. It does take some practice to get good at applying the heat with a heat gun to liquify the solder without over-melting the plastic but the job gets done faster because the heat gun heats up much faster than your typical home work bench soldering iron. There are some applications where I would probably still prefer to manually solder over a "Western Union pigtail" then Plasti Dip. But, for most applications where nothing is likely to ever tug really hard on the wire, this seem to be adequate to the task. Definitely worth having one of these kits on the peg board as a handy alternative.
