Designed with the following assumptions in mind: - All storm window grilles or window frames are on or below the window sill - The underside of the air conditioner is perfectly flat - A heavy, chunky air conditioner will be perfectly balanced at 2-3 inches. wide surface of this mount and it will never move or slide. After cutting various pieces of wood to try, I gave up and just built a matching shelf that would support the air conditioner across its entire width. If you live in an old house with storm windows or screens (like every house I've ever had) this most likely won't work for you. And the concept of a perfect center of gravity on that slippery, narrow metal support seems misguided and potentially dangerous.
