Good for calligraphy practice

I primarily got these for practicing calligraphy. I like to use dot grid paper and I prefer to just use tear out pages. I try to practice 1-2 pages a day but I generally only do one side. This paper is thick enough that some inks don't bleed through so you could write on both sides. If that's a concern to you, my advice would be to tear out one page and use it to test whatever pens, markers, inks you want to use. That way you can see if that particular medium will bleed or not. Nib size/shape doesn't seem to make any difference it's all about the ink used. I've had the same results with wide nibs like my Manuscript 4mm Poster nib as I've had from an extra fine pointed nib at 0.4mm. It's all about the ink. Compared to other papers with the dot grid design I'd say it's better than most at preventing bleed through but it won't prevent it 100%.This paper is nice for calligraphy but I don't love the size especially if you like to work with larger nibs or broader scripts as you don't have as much space to practice them on. I like to turn the page to a landscape orientation where I get fewer lines but wider practice space.I don't really do bullet journaling, so the durability of this isn't a huge issue since I just tear a page out for practice but the cover feels pretty durable. I would be concerned about the pages coming out at the perforations if I were trying to keep this as a journal though.

Pros
  • The soft cover makes it comfortable to use no matter where you are
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use while traveling or on the go
