I've had it for a year and it worked fine for a PATA only laptop (PowerBook G4). I tried another KingSpec PATA SSD and it worked, but there were master/slave issues, meaning it was either a CD/DVD drive or an SSD. With this Transcend I was able to use both (with this one in Master mode). At least with the PowerBook G4, I can maximize the transfer speed of the supported DMA level with this SSD. So this is almost a theoretical maximum, but not quite. So I would recommend it if you have an older laptop and can't fit a SATA to PATA adapter and SATA SSD in your system. Otherwise it would be better to stick with SATA if possible since you can use it on more modern systems.
