Review on Kodak P811BK Personal Negative Scanner by Rob Dixon

I have photos from 1956. About a dozen were black and white or sepia negatives, 40 or 50 were 35mm negatives. Sizes range from about 2"x 3" to maybe 7"x?. I don't know the exact standard sizes. 4x6 sounds about right to many of you. I also scanned in a full-page, standard-size magazine photo. The image didn't have too much black but I scanned some which were very dark and they came out fine.I didn't scan to an SD card.It's much better to scan to a laptop and close it straight after scanning I think I had to rescan 30 to 40 out of 850+ for various reasons as below I got the white stripes that others have mentioned No problem I blew them out with compressed air (for keyboards etc) and it worked again If there are slight folds, creases, or anything else such as glue residue (some people glued pictures to photo book pages before we had inserts for them) then you may have feeding problems and you will end up with a stretched version of the picture if and she will exist. Sometimes it takes a bit of fiddling to get started, and with practice you'll learn the best way to do it. it's not so bad once you get the hang of it. Also, it's fairly easy to start straight, but it may take a little practice. I didn't always use the right/blue slide guide unless I thought I needed it to keep it going straight. I had so many differences in image sizes that I thought grouping the same sizes together would make it a little easier to use the guide more often. I used it maybe 60% to 70% of the time. Scanning: 35mm negatives are a snap. Just insert the strip and you'll get all the images faster than if you were to scan hard copies of those images. There are instructions for this, so keep going straight ahead. at least for me. I've had several of these negatives that for some reason curled up at the ends or even doubled; but I didn't try to feed them as they looked more problematic than the slightly curved photos I tried. I would deduct 1/2 star because I did NOT do any other format negatives. I have hundreds of old System 2 negatives and I even tried to trick them but they didn't go through. I doubt this will work as he "looks" for 35mm in the feeder and only sees a skinny cheat. Maybe someone could force her to eat. If I remember correctly, Wal-Mart charged me 30 cents for the negative result of the 2 system they developed. So I just ordered a 17.5x loupe (my magnifying glass doesn't seem to help) to go through and select from these hundreds of negatives only the ones I want to manifest. All in all it was a great purchase. Many old photos slowly but surely fade, and with the help of photoshop and photoshop I have been able to enhance and preserve them. I plan to make a DVD of old photos and videos for friends and family so now I can share old memories with them wherever they are. I really want to see her on the big screen.
