I don't usually write reviews but having done quite a bit of research before buying one for an older computer I hope this information will help potential buyers. I was looking for a way to improve the performance of an old Gateway SX2801-01e thin profile desktop computer. The RAM (8 GB) was full, but for some reason the graphics just could not be generated smoothly and without problems. Not for gaming, mind you, but for changing location and streaming videos, as well as opening multiple apps. This card fits into a single PCI x16 expansion card slot. My biggest concern was that an outdated BIOS would be too old or that the card would just hang in the computer. Neither happened. First it loaded in low resolution and the drivers were automatically updated. But after updates and a few reboots I was back in business. That old desktop has new life as it works like a new computer. (I've already upgraded to a Samsung SSD and added a USB 3.0 card.) The onboard 2GB of RAM is extremely useful. I also use a 220w power supply instead of the recommended 300w without any problems. It draws only 19 watts. I will be upgrading my old monitor to a higher resolution monitor now that the graphics card supports it.
