My neighborhood is littered with goat heads. Without a thick profile, even a Continental Gator hard shell city bike tire with Duraskin tires (700 x 28, wire beaded), which are generally considered to be almost bulletproof, is prone to frequent punctures. Replacing the tubes was getting expensive so I decided to try these patches along with Slime 1050 Rubber Cement - 8 oz. . Those two things paid off in a couple of weeks. I've only replaced one tube since purchasing these patches and that's because I made a huge mistake rebuilding an impeller that would have taken 36 patches. a large sink filled with water, rub the puncture site with dish soap and a Brillo sponge. Then I pump out and wipe the hose dry. I put on a nitrile glove, apply the rubber glue to the puncture with a brush from a can of slime rubber glue, and then spread and remove the excess rubber glue with a finger covered with a nitrile glove. When the rubber adhesive becomes slightly tacky, which only takes about a minute, I apply the patch, using a nitrile-gloved hand to make sure the entire patch is secure. It remains only to wait until the rubber glue hardens, coat the inner tube with talc and then reinstall it. I also used these patches to replace the Park Tool patch. As some Park Tool patch reviewers say in their reviews, this is a temporary fix. I thought that was right. That got me back home, but I had to use a Sunlite patch to permanently fix the puncture.
