Nice fan but can only be controlled by the poorly working proprietary remote control

Looks nice and quiet but you can't use the light switch to turn the lights on and off and the remote controls don't work well (you have to point it at the fan and press the button multiple times before it responds, even after multiple resets and trying a different frequency). Westinghouse should have reported that the light switch didn't work before I bought it (it's not mentioned anywhere - neither in the instructions nor in the details on the website) and not after I paid the electrician $200 to install it. Customer service really tried to help but there was nothing they could do as the fan can only be controlled via their poorly working and proprietary remote control.
