Review on Ecoeler 3-Way Motion Sensor Light Switch - Neutral Wire Required - UL Listed And FCC Approved - Indoor Motion Activated Switch - Pack Of 1 by Jim Raju

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This has to be defective because nobody would design something like this on purpose.

The switch was pretty straightforward, and I've installed a lot of light switches. Because of the wiring in my home, I had to improvise a bit, so it took me awhile to get it to work properly however, the major issue that I have is that it appears to have only two settings for how long it will stay on after it no longer detects motion: 3 nanoseconds or a fortnight. The switch has three dials with which you can make adjustments to its sensitivity, and how long it's supposed to stay on after motion detection stops. I hope mine is just defective and can be replaced, but if not, this is the dumbest design I've ever seen. There is a test mode which turns the switch off after about 5 Seconds, which is useful for testing the sensitivity location and range stuff, but then the rest of it is a dial that is supposed to be gradually increasing that amount of time up to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, mine appears to have no gradation at all and goes from just a couple of seconds, to five minutes. It's a micro-micro smidgen of difference. The pictures are included show the difference between 5 seconds and like 10 minutes in the dial on the left you can see how small a difference it is.As far as coverage area and detection goes, though, it is excellent. It really does truly cover the area that it says that it does, which is very good because in my application I was concerned that because the light switches in a corner of a rectangular room, and it's facing along the short side, the people in the other corner of the room would not be seen by it, but that part of it works really well. It's just this damned duration thing.

Pros
  • Saves energy by automatically turning off lights when no one is in the room
Cons
  • May require frequent battery replacements
