I have never used such a wall light, but for us it turned out to be a really great solution. We have a small, old house where there are almost no wires for lighting on the walls or ceiling, so we have lamps everywhere. The floor lamps we use take up a lot of space on the floor and are also very attractive for the little ones. We're not ready to dig into the drywall to redo the wiring just yet, but we still wanted something better that would give us good lighting, take up less space, and be a bit more kid-safe. We were really pleasantly surprised at how great this lamp is. . I was skeptical about the LED bulb but it really puts out the same light as the other bulbs in our house. It's really warm, soft light. Not at all harsh or bluish like some LED bulbs I've seen. The lampshade looks like a normal but beautiful white linen lampshade and the shape and design is very clean, classic and stylish. Yes. Of course it would be better to just have a sconce and not stick it in the wall, but it's really a reasonable alternative. As for installation, the instructions were good and getting up and running was quick and easy. The light switch is in an odd spot in my opinion, it's right above the shade so you have to put your hand a bit under the shade when you turn it on, but it's probably for the better that way because you can barely see the switch at all . Every time I try to turn it on it turns me on twice so it doesn't actually turn on (mostly I get past turning it on and off again) but my husband assures me it's user error and that he has no problem making right turns. This is a really great lighting solution and we are very happy with it!
