Here's the problem - solder paste needs to be stored in the fridge. Reputable distributors store it in this form and ship it in cold packs. This paste purchased from DigiKey is very good. I suspect the reason some people have had bad experiences is because these things are stored incorrectly. So you might be unlucky to get one that has gone bad as a result. I hope this hasn't happened to me - I'll update.
