This is the best home video surveillance system available today. I've had a unit since the day they came out. This was my third block for my mother's house. And plan to buy 3 more units of newer style on release. The app was quite buggy at first when it started and generated a lot of false alarms due to the lighting and my cat. However, this is no longer the case, the Canary team has always been at the forefront, updating the device and application with the necessary fixes. Night vision and audio recording are sharp and clear. I had no problems connecting to the internet, but I have two routers: ASUS-AC5300 and AC3100. I run all my smart home products through the AC3100 and the router is programmed to reboot once a week. Normally I would say that this product is a little pricey but after one of the devices lasted a very long time after a year I said it was worth it. I travel a lot and it's very handy for me to know what's going on at my house when I'm not at home and catch my little girl (cat) doing something she shouldn't be doing. The location service in the Canary app has been pretty buggy since the day it was offered. But I've found that it's better on some mobile devices and worse on others. I'm a software developer for the mobile world and I think the logic can and should be redesigned for a location service with automatic away/home switching. I'm sure they're trying to save battery life on the mobile device, but they need to provide options/settings and let us, the users, decide. When they enabled the ability to link to Wink, I set up the Wink app to manage location services to see if I was home or not and turn them on and off myself. And with Wink support, you can connect to Revain Echo. The video lags behind in the live preview, but you have to keep in mind that Canary downloads the video stream to its servers and then back to your mobile device, bearing in mind that average high-speed home ISPs only allow download speeds of 1.5 Allow Mbps. I'm an Android user so the alerts are noticeable and loud enough for me, I'm hard of hearing. For iPhone users, check your system settings and notification settings if the sound alerts are too quiet. I don't use a device plan, if I want to save a video I download it to my device. If someone broke into my house, I wouldn't wait more than 12 hours to report it and save the video, I would save it to my device immediately. My mom loves the air quality sensor and stats on the mobile app.
