Needs frequent cleaning

The water in my planted aquarium wasn't as clean as I wanted, so I decided to try this filter instead of the white filter. It did not work. The flow decreased throughout the day requiring frequent cleaning and the water didn't seem much cleaner. I returned to the white filter. Ideally I would like to run a white filter in the first compartment and that filter in the second, but this configuration is not supported. Filters are only suitable for the first compartment.
