I bought this perch because I like to let my two pygmy parakeets out of their cage in one of the bedrooms of my house for at least two hours every day so they can fly a bit every day and exercise their wings. I was hoping that if I buy them this perch and place it at the highest point in the bedroom (chest in the bedroom) they would no longer end up on the table lamp I have in my bedroom, they would completely ignore this perch and further use the table lamp lamp as a landing point. I tried putting them on top of the perch as I put them in the bedroom and put some food in one of the bowls that came with the perch to see if they would use it more but shortly after they fly just off the perch. I'll post them on it. The construction of the perch is pretty decent and it was easy to assemble but my birds don't seem to like it, maybe it looks like burnt wood? Maybe it doesn't look like natural wood to them? I do not know. I've also tried removing the 1 individual bowl that I put on the perch so I can at least fit it into my solar kennel's cage, but it seems like the screw that screws onto the bowl is loose and when I try to spin the bowl it no longer loosens or tightens, it just spins endlessly. Eventually I caged my two sun conures to see if they would get used to using it. If I left it in their cage they would get used to having it around better. Advantages ------- ------+ It looks very beautiful, it can almost look like a home decoration. + Material looks quite solid and very well made Disadvantages -------------- Unfortunately my two Conure Suns can't get there, I don't know, maybe it's because of the look of the burnt wood maybe a strange smell they don't like? or maybe it doesn't look like real wood to them? for whatever reason they did not approach her. - The screw that attaches the bowl to the perch has come loose and now when I twist the bowl to take it off, the bowl just spins but the screw no longer pulls or loosens. So the bowl is essentially solid. The wood looks like it has a burnt texture, which doesn't seem to be very popular with the birds. Conclusion ------------- Really cute and well put together, but why buy something my birds won't use? It didn't really serve the purpose I was buying it for, which was to let my birds fly on a perch rather than on my desk lamp when they were in my bedroom so they could fly and exercise their wings. Daily. I would not recommend this perch if you have a sun conure, mine didn't seem to like it at all. I ended up putting it in their cage to see if they use it in their cage at least occasionally. Maybe they'll get used to it when it's in their cage and let them get to know it better.
