After several months of suffering with cheap shields I gave up and bought them. You stay nice and tight and don't move sideways when sparring, even when you're practicing leg holds. I contacted Venum customer service to inquire about the differences between the models and they said that the Elite is made in Thailand while the cheaper Predator and Challenger models are made in Pakistan or China. I didn't feel the top strap rub against the back of my knees, which some people have complained about, but I wear tights to workout and have not tried pads in shorts and bare legs. I got elbowed a few times by a newbie who didn't know how to properly reinforce the kick block and elbowed sideways. They absorbed the blow so well they didn't feel a thing, and his elbow was fine too.
