Good value for money but received an open box and a broken CPU cooler

I don't usually have time to write a review. But I was disappointed when I received the item to find that the CPU box itself was open on both sides, with torn/crumpled cartoon bits on all sides of the box and cut like a razor into the plastic casing of the CPU itself , but seems to be superficial. I was more surprised to see that one of the colder plastic sides was also broken. The outer shipping box was undamaged, so I have to assume the processor box was damaged by direct handling or something else. I like Amazon and think they have good service so I assume something went wrong somewhere. I tried the processor myself with an i3 10100 CPU cooler just to see if it works and works. I don't want to be bothered with returns and waiting times. In all cases I want to use another non-standard CPU cooler. I'm still worried that this part might be defective as it throttles very quickly with the i3 cooler, just a few seconds before Prime95. But I agree when in doubt, because even what came with the i7 as broken still wouldn't do. The processor has a PL2 rating of 224W despite having a TDP of 65, so I doubt an Intel cooler would do any good. It would be better if they lower the price and not include the cooler. My advice to anyone using such a processor is to get another well sized cooler.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
