If I had to design ankle boots for dogs, these would be them. I just can't give it 5 stars because it's not big enough to fit the dewclaws to cover. Also, my poodle pads are average and their skinny legs are not. I would like another 1/2 inch or more with another strap over the dewclaw. This will prevent the ankle boots from slipping down your leg. In addition, these are winter boots and the protector is simply functional. I would have liked a more aggressive profile for winter boots, but my dog treats them like slippers. She loves them, walks them around the house, climbs stairs and runs like crazy in the mountains. She gets zumi often and is so happy she doesn't get cold - she lets you carry her if she gets too cold. Considering we had single digit times for 3 weeks, she wore a lot of them. A huge improvement over other styles. I'll add a photo next time.
