The top lid just sits there and it's actually dangerous to lift it if you forget the lid doesn't close. It just sits loose. I feel like it has no purpose other than just sitting there. It seems like a gasket would be nice to solder to the canister, but no. It's free and you have to be careful. Also, I want it to have 3lbs of beans, which I know aren't listed and won't affect the star rating. It's 3 stars because the top cap is so pointless you'll almost drop the whole canister if you're not careful. But I buy beans in 3 pound bags. It would be great if it could be made larger so it could hold more and still be airtight. But oh, that top cover!
