If you're serious about your music, read this: I've got a Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro (250 ohms) for almost now year. At first it sounded like the holy grail of high definition and modern music. The bass was tight and as an electronic music producer I found it perfect. But when I used them, I found that they not only got very tired, but also hurt my ears. I couldn't get ANY of my mixes right. And then I heard something else on the monitors, changing things here and there, going back to the banks, changing other things, and even though I've been A/Bing with a lot of the commercially released tracks, I couldn't really hear what was being done on my tracks differ from the others. . I just knew they were missing something, but by then I had probably spent about 6 hours in the jars and my ears stopped working for crap. I never tried 880s because I could only choose between 770 and 990 when I got them. To me the 990s sounded great, but they were about the same as the 770s but with less sub-bass punch since they were open-back headphones. And I didn't really care much about the 880 headphones because a lot of people told me they were "flat", "lifeless" and "boring". After spending way too much money on $3,000 headphones (which may sound good at some point, but not now), I decided to give the 880s a try. They just arrived today. THESE BANKS. THIS definition is correct here. This is the closest thing I've ever heard to my Adams. So if you're SERIOUS about making music, get it. Your music doesn't have to sound good through your banks. It should sound right. So if it sounds bad on boring banks, then there is something to work on.
