nice lamp. However, it is very bright and needs to be placed higher than, for example, slightly below eye level. This is because the oil is clear, and because it doesn't contain any wax, the bulb glows pretty well in your eyes unless it's high up. It's too bright to be used as a night light, I wanted it to turn on at night and relax with a glow while I fall asleep. Just like with lava lamps, if you keep them on 24/7 the bulb will lose its power after about a month and the wax/glitter will stop working even though the light is still on. As such, some lightbulbs are used, but these can be found at most stores. As long as you use the right wattage and don't use an over wattage bulb (which could cause a fire) it's safe, the sides get a little warm (you can touch them with your hands) but the bottom barely warms the table , so it's safe. It heats up faster than a traditional wax lamp, but not instantly.
