It was quite comfortable with no rashguard or wetsuit. My son had issues with the crotch strap so I'll follow the other guidelines and add some fleece. For women we can leave the strap in the middle and it didn't bother me. He didn't rub and didn't get up. I had a fairly tight chest strap to help with that. We were able to inflate it very easily - you have to press down to inflate, but it only takes a minute to learn how to do it with one hand. This provides enough buoyancy and we were able to lower our face into the water with no problem.
