Review on CURT 56016: Custom 4-Pin Trailer πŸš— Wiring Harness for Mazda 2 Hatchback, 5, CX-9 by Adam Huper

Works great, but a lot of installation work.

This custom wiring harness works great. I've used shared wire adapters in the past to make separate amber turn signals work with two trailer bulbs and they were a poor compromise. This kit plugs into the car's existing wiring harness and does a fantastic job. You will need to remove the driver's side rear quarter panel, open the passenger's side rear quarter panel, and remove the entire driver's side rocker panel and sunroof. This is necessary to route the cable from the car battery to the device and parking light on the passenger side. I dodged through the gap between the fender and frame in the driver's door and got out just behind the frame under the hood. I then removed the connector on the A-pillar, punched a hole in the connector to allow the wire to go through, and then routed the wire directly through the smaller hole in the driver's footwell. This hole is difficult to see because there is a large cluster of wires directly above it. That was the hard part. Just make sure your kite doesn't get caught on a wire in the wing. The cables to the side marker lights are very thin and break easily. Ask me how I know. But they are easy to fix. There is a tab on the back of the light that can be depressed to release the latch, allowing the light to be removed to repair a broken wire. You just need something thin to slide under the rim of the mount. All in all a great product. However, note that the installation is moderately complex and time-consuming.
