The reason I bought this article was obviously that my new LED headlights stopped working after 4 months. They were recommended to me to solve the problem and they did. The new problem is that, as mentioned earlier, the resistors get very hot. I mean hot to the point where they started melting the casing around my headlights. So hot I couldn't touch them until they were cold, which was quite a while. I'm glad I let them run for half an hour with the case open and in sight because they physically pounded the lamp case like a hot knife through butter. My solution was to let the resistor hang freely in a hole in the steel frame, away from wires or plastic. If I hadn't paid attention to how hot these things get I can imagine serious damage or even a fire. If you own and purchase a 2010 F-150, be sure to use the square hole in the steel frame on the right (passenger side) and left (driver's side) under the headlight housing. The resistors can hang freely and hopefully do no harm.
