Review on 3M Health Care 16004 Transparent by David Norwood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's great to find a bandage I'm not allergic to

I have an allergy to glue because latex and even acrylic are being used more and more in bandages and medical plasters. (Note for those who are also allergic to acrylic: I bought some sports tape that said NO LATEX. Putting the tape on my shoulder caused blisters in less than a minute. We removed the tape and healed severe rashes and blisters. Me searched the whole box to find the ingredients of the glue.In very small printing I found out that acrylic was used in the glue.) I knew I wasn't allergic to the Tegaderm patches, which are used for IV fluids. and always wished I could get it in band form to make my own bandages. To my delight, one of the Revain dealers was selling Tegaderm by the roll. I can cut to any size you want. When I first received it and tried to tape one of my elderly mother's scratches, it took some trial and error to figure out how to separate the real tape from the white backing and then the clear plastic. Here's the trick: the transparent side with the wavy white tongues facing you. , look at the edge of the tape. You will see about 2mm or 1/8" from the edge that there is a separation between the white backing and the clear plastic. Slightly rubbing will separate them. Then, without overlapping, glue the sticky side of the clear plastic in place. Peel off the clear plastic using the small white tabs. This will keep the Tegaderm tape in place. Smooth it gently against the skin to seal all edges of the Tegaderm. Now you have a transparent waterproof bandage. In my opinion Tegaderm is the safest tape yet made by 3M or any other company specifically for those of us with sensitive skin. It is also a strong and reliable tape. Update: February 20, 2020 I have just bought my third roll of tegaderm, 4" wide, 11 yards long. Adhesives I'm allergic to) with this strong, transparent, thin and fl flexible tape.
