This bin is great for non-kitchen waste. The top opens as advertised. However, most people put a liner in their jars to keep them clean and the lid doesn't close completely with the liner. The lid could have been done better, it just sits on the frame. The usage theory is good, but it doesn't quite work as they promised. It's good for bathrooms, bedrooms or for those who do crafts but would never use this for kitchen scraps. I would recommend that depending on your intended use.
